Our Children's Theatre Summer Series Receives Statewide Recognition
Each summer, families from across the Kannapolis community gather at the historic Swanee Theatre to laugh, imagine, wonder, and experience the magic of live theatre together.
Our Children's Theatre Summer Series, presented by the City of Kannapolis Parks and Recreation Department, has been honored with the 2025 Arts and Humanities Award from the North Carolina Recreation and Parks Association.
We are incredibly proud to have partnered with the City of Kannapolis on this award-winning series and to have brought interactive theatrical experiences to hundreds of children and families throughout the summer.
At Sigmon Theatrical, we believe theatre is at its most powerful when it invites audiences to participate rather than simply observe. Most of our shows are interactive and immersive in design, bringing the audience into the story, with children sometimes engaging onstage alongside our cast of professional performers during the show. It's truly a unique and one-of-a-kind theatrical experience that the community has embraced in such a beautiful way.
The response from the community has been extraordinary. Each of our summer performances for 2026 (five different titles performed June through August) were each entirely Sold Out!
The recognition by the North Carolina Recreation and Parks Association speaks to the City's commitment to providing meaningful arts experiences for families and investing in programs that enrich the community. We are honored that our work was part of a program receiving this distinction.
A heartfelt thank you goes to the City of Kannapolis Parks and Recreation Department, the staff and volunteers who helped make each event possible, and the many families who attended the performances. It wouldn't have been possible without Raygen Ellis envisioning and championing this program!
We are excited to continue building on this momentum and look forward to creating even more unforgettable family theatre experiences in the future.
Congratulations again to the City of Kannapolis on this well-deserved recognition. Here's to another incredible season of storytelling, imagination, and community.
